Wonderful picture frame crafted by Carlo Bugatti in Milano, Italy around 1900.
Extremely detailed with bone, ebony and other colored woods inlays.
Even the turned knobs have wire-inlays.
It measures some 30 x 34.8 cm with a "picture" size of 19.9 x 25 cm.
Unrestored (hence undisturbed), well preserved with some age-related wear and losses.

19?? Photograph - Vincent Junek with Bugatti T 32 Tank 4059.
This is a photograph of Vincent Junek (husband of Elisabeth Junek) tinkering with their Bugatti Type 32 "Tank" (Chassis 4059), presumably in pre-war Prague (CS).
The Juneks acquired the car in the 1920's but unfortunately, the car has gone missing in the mists of time...
This is most probably NOT a vintage photo (i.e. printed shortly after the picture was taken) but it is definitely "older" and printed on fiber-based paper (1970's? 1980's?).
It measures some 15 x 10 cm or 6 x 4 inches.

1929 Bugatti Type 46 "Quick Start" Instruction Sheet.
Here we have a vintage October 1929 "quick start" sheet for the Bugatti T46 3 Liter cars.
It is not very elaborate but gives simple instructions on how to operate and maintain the Type 46 chassis.
It mentions fuel, lubrication, spark plugs, tires etc.
It looks like it was an insert for the extended owners manual and aimed at those who didn't want to go through the whole manual before taking their new Bugatti to the road. Kind of like what we find nowadays with electronics.
The sheet measures some 14 x 22.5 cm (5.5 x 8.9 inches) and opens up to 28 x 22.5 cm ( 11 x 8.9 inches) with 3 pages of text.
1930 Bugatti Molsheim - Letter with Credit Note.
This is an original 1930 Ettore Bugatti Molsheim letter with credit note dated May 27, 1930.
The letter elaborates on the return of a number of parts and consequently a credit note (see image 2) for a total of 132.80 Francs.
The letter comes on paper with the large Bugatti "Radiator shield" logo watermarked across the top of the page and the "Ettore Bugatti" script logo watermarked across the bottom.
The letter is typewritten and is "signed" Ettore Bugatti" but the actual signature is from one of the secretaries.
A great period "Bugatti Internal" Item!
1930 Bugatti Type 49 Spec Sheet with hand drawn Bodywork (!)
Here we have a vintage August 1930 specification sheet for the Bugatti T49 3,300 Liters chassis.
It lists all the relevant details and at the bottom it shows a side view of the chassis with relevant dimensions.
What makes this particular sheet so interesting is that on the chassis, a very sporty 2 door cabriolet body has been drawn.
The design most probably comes from talented coachwork designer as the lines have been penned down with decisiveness and not a single correction has been made.
The design discards the existing bonnet line which is lowered and extended.
The drawing is pretty detailed as it shows the cabriolet roof mechanism, door handles, bumpers and spare wheel.
Not a rush-rush job. Therefore, we believe that this body could actually have been built.
The sheet comes from a long defunct Bugatti concessionaire in France's Brittany (Bretagne) so it could very well have been for a customer of that dealer.
Is there anybody who recognizes & can identify this body / coachbuilder or maybe even the car on which it was built?
The sheet measures some 7 x 8.5 inches or 18 x 21.5 cm.
1931 Bugatti Levallois-Perret - Invoice - 2.300 Liter engine.
This is an original 1931 Bugatti Invoice coming from the Levallois-Perret (Paris) workshop, dated October 8, 1931.
The invoice is for a number of parts (mainly water pump parts) for a 2.300 Liter engine (Type 35B, 35T, 43, 43A or 51).
The Levallois workshop was the factory-owned mainstay in Bugatti maintenance, repairs & parts supply for France.
1932 Ettore Bugatti Letter + Envelope.
This is an original 1932 Ettore Bugatti Molsheim letterhead.
This letter was sent on September 20, 1932 to a prospective client in the USA and relays that the London Sales Office has been instructed to forward sales literature in English to the good man.
The letter carries the salutation "P/ Ettore Bugatti" which stands for "Pour Ettore Bugatti" or "On behalf of Ettore Bugatti". It has been briefly signed by one of the secretaries.
The letter carries a large Bugatti logo as a watermark across the text (sorry, hardly visible in the scan) and a "Ettore Bugatti, Molsheim" watermark at the bottom.
It comes complete with the original envelope (a little soiled and damaged) which carries a 1932 Molsheim postmark.
A great period item!

1933 Bugatti Type 49 Bodywork Blueprint - Gangloff 4 pl. Faux Cabriolet.
A great vintage item from Carrosserie Gangloff!
This blueprint shows (in scale 1/10th) the external shape and internal dimensions of the 4 seater Faux Cabriolet body designed by Gangloff to be fitted to the Bugatti T49 8-Cylinder chassis.
Clearly visible are the "vane-type" wheels, so typical for the T 49.
It was dated February 4, 1933 in the vellum.
The blueprint measures some 22 x 12.5 inches or 55 x 31 cm.
1933 Photograph - Florian Schmidt - Bugatti Type 37A - Hradec Kralove.
This is a vintage press photo (i.e. printed shortly after the picture was taken) from a Prague press agency of Florian Schmidt en route to victory in the 1933 Hradec Kralové (CS) sports car race.
Most probably this was the T37A that belonged to Bruno Sojka with whom Schmidt had teamed up in 1932.
The photo carries a caption tag which reads (in English):
The first motor-car races through the streets of a city have been carry out in the town of Hradec Kralové / Czechoslovakia / . These races have been very successful and have bound the full attention of the spectators.On the photo: Mr. Florian Schmidt/ Csechoslovakia / , who with his Bugatti-car has won the victory in the section of sporting car.

1930's Bugatti Automotrice / Autorail / Railcar Leaflet.
This is a vintage 1930's publicity leaflet for the Ettore Bugatti designed & build Railway Car.
It shows the Automotrice Legere itself, the Bugatti Royale Type 41 derived engine and the revolutionary drive system. Furthermore it shows some technical details.
It is printed on very thin paper.
Unfortunately, it has a large coffee stain, hence the reduced price.
It measures some 21 x 27 cm or 8.3 x 10.6 inches.
Ca. 1934 Jean Bugatti drawn Bugatti le Pursang de l'Automobile et du Rail Poster - photo reproduction.
This is a photographic reproduction of a Bugatti advertising poster, drawn by Jean Bugatti in circa 1934.
It shows the Bugatti Automotice Railcar, a Type 57 Atalante (for which Jean Bugatti was in charge of the design team!) and a throughbred horse (most probably inspired on Ettore Bugatti's personal horse, Broulliard).
This concern an older photographic print of this handdrawn poster which is of unknown age.
It measures some 18 x 24 cm or 7 x 9.5 inches.
1934 Bugatti Levallois-Perret - Payment Due Reminder.
This is an original 1934 Bugatti Invoice coming from the Levallois-Perret (Paris) workshop, dated September 6, 1934.
The letter comes from the accounting department and requests payment by return mail of the open invoices from May, June & July, amounting to a total of 4.680.35 Francs (quite a hefty sum when one considers that this concerns parts only...).

1934 Bugatti Molsheim Releve des Factures.
This is an original 1934 Bugatti Molsheim letterhead, especially for invoices, dated December 10, 1934.
It was manually modified to become a "Releve de factures" or Overview of unpaid invoices.
It has been pencilled in and shows 2 invoice for a total of 5.113.05 Francs.
The recipient, a long defunct Bugatti dealer in France's Brittany (Bretagne), pencilled in "send check - End of January".
1935 Bugatti Type 57 Bodywork Print - Antem Cabriolet - Chassis 57200.
A great vintage item from Carrosserie Jean Antem!
This print was issued in 1935 by the paint supplier of Carrosserie Antem, Nitrolac.
Most probably this was used to demonstrate the proposed color-scheme for their then-recent design as executed on Bugatti T57, chassis number 57200.
The proposed colors were called "Noir Iris" and "Rouge d'Armagnac".
We only know of 2 contemporary photographs of # 57200 and there it LOOKS to be all black but then again, it is difficult to judge from b&w pictures.
An ultra rare item on a one-off car!

1930's Bugatti Type 57 Coach Ventoux Drawing / Print.
This is a "print" that originates from a 1930's Bugatti Sales portfolio and that shows the Coach Ventoux body.
The rear lists the details of the coachwork in French.
The front has been stamped by the former "Automobielmuseum Driebergen" in The Netherlands and hand dated 1951 (probably the date that the museum acquired this piece).

1938 Bugatti London Letter - Type 57 Inquiry.
This is an original 1938 Bugatti London letterhead.
It was sent on September 12, 1938 to a prospective client in the USA and explains about the then-current Type 57 and the upcoming changes for the 1939 season.
The second page also lists the prices for the bare chassis but in standard form and as Type 57.C and the prices for the three standard factory bodies (Ventoux, Stelvia and Galibier). With hindsight it is still amazing to see that the Galibier Saloon was the most expensive of the three and the exiting Ventoux the cheapest...

This is an original 1939 spec sheet for the T 57 chassis, issued by the Bugatti factory.
It is dated March 15, 1939 and shows the technical aspecs in French as well as the Paris showroom address and the Levallois workshop address.

1946 Bugatti ''You-You a Moteur'' Boat brochure.
A great brochure of the Bugatti You-You (or small / toy) boat.
Designed in 1946 and probably built in 1947, the You-You featured a 2 - 5 HP 4-stroke Bugatti engine.
It is widely assume that the engine for the You-You was designated as Type 75.
A sectioned You-You can be found in the Schlumpf Collection.
A scarce brochure (as probably all Bugatti brochures) and in extremely good condition for its age.

This is a vintage press photo (i.e. printed shortly after the picture was taken) from an Australian press agency of Jack Murray at the wheels of the Jack Days Special Bugatti Ford SC Special.
This was a Ford-powered Type 39 that gradually evolved into the Day Special in the hands of Australian Jack Day.

This is a vintage photo (i.e. printed shortly after the picture was taken) taken around 1950 at the Prescott Hillclimb of Bugatti Type 51 S/N 51145, carrying registration number NRT 555 at that time.
The car now resides in The Netherlands.
It measures some 21 x 16 cm or 8 x 6 inches.
1956 Authentic Bugatti Type 251 Valve Spring.
This is an autnetic valve spring, produced at Molsheim, for the ill-fated Bugatti 251 Grand Prix car.
It comes packaged in a plastic bag with a header card from the Bugatti Owners Club which states, amongst others the following:
"Production was geared to a run of eight cars and this hairpin valve spring (authenticated as a genuine Bugatti part by the Bugatti Owners Club) is a souvenir of the very last Bugatti."
It comes complete with a factory test tag of the tested spring load in KG.

1956 Bugatti Molsheim Issue - Les 50 annees de Genie Mecanique d'Ettore Bugatti 1898 - 1948.
This is a 1956 Issue of the "publication" that elaborates on teh mecanical genius of Ettore Bugatti.
Originally issued in 1948 (1 year after Ettore's death), this was printed / stencilled in 1956 and mailed out on December 28, 1956 to a prospective buyer.
It also received the official Automobiles E. Bugatti stamp on the front.

This is a vintage circa 1961 photograph of the Bugatti T59 (Chassis 59124) while owned by Francis H. Ludington of Pelham Manor, NY, USA and carrying license LPG211.
The is still carrying its characteristic road-going equipment (riveted seam pontoon wing & lights) which were later removed.
This photo is believed to have been taken in 1960 as we acquired it together with a 1960 Bugatti Owners Club Christmas card showing the very same car.

L'Epopee Bugatti - L'Ebe Bugatti - FRENCH - 1966.
This title, often mistaken for "L'Epoque Bugatti", was written by Ettore Bugatti's first daughter whom he called L'Ebe after his own initials...
This history of the Bugatti family told by Ettore’s first daughter is particularly moving and interesting.
She rectifies some errors raised in the works appeared since her father’s death and tells his life with a very human point of view although without indulgence.
Gabriel Voisin's epilogue, technical appendixes, everything is fascinating in this book.
